About this Study

This study evaluates whether a new investigational medication can help restore gluten tolerance in people with celiac disease.

Study Purpose

Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition where eating gluten causes the immune system to damage the small intestine. Currently, the only treatment is strict lifelong adherence to a gluten-free diet, which can be challenging, restrictive, and doesn't always prevent accidental exposure. This study tests a potential treatment that may help reduce sensitivity to gluten, potentially allowing patients to tolerate small amounts of gluten without intestinal damage.

Duration

The main treatment part of the study lasts for 24 weeks, followed by a 20-week follow-up period. Eligible participants may also have the option to join an open-label extension phase for an additional 52 weeks.

The study is being conducted at Access Research Institute, located at 11373 Cortez Blvd Building C, Suite 200, Brooksville, FL 34613.

Dr. Salman Muddassir, MD, FACP

Dr. Salman currently serves as program director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Oak Hill Hospital. He received his medical degree from Quaid-e-Azam University and his pre-medical training was at Sir Syed College. He then served for 13 years at Seton Hall University Internal Medicine Program at Saint Francis Medical Center in New Jersey where he completed his internal medicine residency and was a chief resident.
